The Lee Value Turret Press kit includes the very popular four hole turret press along with everything you need to get started loading for rifle or pistol. Only the dies for the caliber you wish to load are needed as an extra item. While Lee dies are not required for use in the Deluxe Turret Press kit, it is highly recommended because all Lee dies (except RGB) include the shell holder which is necessary for the press to use the dies. Lee dies also include the patented Powder Through Expander die which allows you to flare and charge the case mouth at the same time. Also included is load data and the appropriate powder dipper for many of the loads listed in the data.

If loading for a rifle cartridge, we highly recommend the purchase of the proper case length gauge so that you may properly and safely trim your cases. Additionally, you will need to purchase a powder funnel and the Lee Powder Measure kit. These inexpensive items are necessary to adequately charge the larger capacities of rifle cases. The measure that comes with the kit is designed for handgun charging.

This press is ideal for handgun loading and with experienced hands, you can load over 200 rounds per hour. For those who wish to use the press as a single station press, the auto index feature can be disabled in seconds and then re-enabled in the same amount of time.

The fourth hole was added to accommodate the use of the Lee Factory Crimp die which is an optional die but comes with our new Deluxe Pistol Die set.

The Lube and Sizing kits includes the sizing die, Bullet Punch, case, and Liquid Alox Bullet lubricant.

If you intend to size pulled .50 BMG bullets, you need to do the following.

Remove the .50 BMG shell holder from the top of the ram. Install the standard ram end back on the ram. Mount the die in the press, just touching the ram end. Mount the bullet punch, included in the set, on the top of the ram, where a shell holder is usually placed.

The bullets need to be lubricated before sizing. You need to use LEE Resizing Lubricant. This is required when a jacketed bullet is being sized. Push them through the die pointed end first.

If you are resizing military surplus .50 BMG for the first time, here are some tricks to make it easier:

These empty cases more than likely came out of a .50 caliber machinegun. The chambers of these weapons are typically oversize as compared to one of the commercially available .50 cal. single shot rifles that most of us are reloading for. This means when you go to resize these cases you will be reducing them more this first time you resize them, then after you fire them from your own rifle.

First and foremost, use LEE Resizing Lubricant. This is not a sales pitch, believe me. It works.

Do not try to resize the case in one stroke of the press.
1. To set the die, screw it in until you touch the shell holder. Back the die out 1 to 3 turns. Now resize a series of cases. The reason for this is the press develops all its power at the top of the stroke. By being some distance back from final form, you have performed the majority of the resizing with this first stroke.
2. Now re-set the die by screwing it in a quarter turn at a time, until you touch the shell holder. At that point, give the die an additional quarter turn. This extra quarter turn takes all the back lash out of the press linkage and assures the shell holder will touch the die base at the top of the stroke. Now again resize the same series of cases.

Lee has an update kit available for the Auto Disk Powder Measure, (catalog #90377).

It includes a hopper, which attaches with machine screws and nuts, rather than the sheet metal screws of the original hopper. Also included are an adjustable charge bar, and a swivel adapter, which allows you to install/remove the powder measure without having to turn the whole measure out of the die.

If you just want to replace the existing hopper, Contact Us to order part #AD2308 for the red hopper or #AD2485 for the smoke colored hopper.

Disks can be removed without removing the hopper by unhooking the pull back spring, lifting up on the hopper, and the disk will slide out the front of the measure.
Leakage can be minimized by reducing the amount of clearance between the disk and the bottom of the hopper. To do this, carefully file the tops of the risers that the hopper rests on when attached. The Pro Auto disk hopper mentioned above has an soft plastic wiper built in to the base so it is operated at zero clearance.

Only Lee Dies include the shell holders (except RGB) that is necessary to use your dies on the press. It accommodates both the beginner and the experienced.

For rifle calibers, one should also add the appropriate case length gauge/shell holder to go with the case trimming tools included in the kit. Pistol cases seldom need to be trimmed as they generally wear out before actually needing it. We do make them however for those people who want the peace of mind. Case length gauge/shell holders can be found on the "case conditioning tools" page in our catalog and web site.

The Anniversary kit will work for both rifle and pistol cartridges.

When we say that only the dies are extra, we make the assumption that you were considering Lee dies which all (except RGB) include the press shell holder for the specific cartridge. Other brands of dies don't include a shell holder and it is necessary for loading the specific caliber. We do include all shell holders for the Auto Prime that came with the kit as these are specifically made to work with just that tool.

We also suggest that when loading rifle, that the proper case length gauge for that caliber be purchased along with the dies. This is the gauge that works in conjunction with the cutter and the lock stud that came with the kit. There are around 100 different gauges and it's not practical to include all in the kit as it wouldn't be as affordable.
