Precision and ease make the Classic Press a winner.

A single stage press is perfect for both beginners and those who want complete control over the entire process. The Lock-N-Load Classic delivers both dependability and precision with its uniquely angled, solid cast frame that offers greater visibility and easier access to the cartridge. Designed to assure perfect die and shell holder alignment, its Lock-N-Load quick change bushing system also makes the process quick and easy.

Press Features

Lock-N-Load Quick Change Bushing System

Lock-N-Load bushings not only let you switch from one die to another in a matter of seconds, they also offer the quickest and easiest die setup on the market. Just set the die and tighten the Sure-Loc ring on to the Lock-N-Load bushing. Quickly remove and re-install without the need to readjust the die or keep a separate seater die for each of your pet loads.

Power-Pac Linkage and Solid Steel Arms

Arms rotate on steel pins that run completely through the cast frame. The Power-Pac linkage design multiplies the leverage you apply to the handle, making it easier to size cases and reduces user fatigue.

Positive Priming System (PPS)

Once the spent primer ejects at the top of the stroke, you can add a new primer to the PPS and it self-aligns to feed and insert the primer at the bottom of the stroke where leverage is best. Our self-aligning primer arm also allows for easy manual inserting of primers without having to raise the handle. All the work is done at the bottom of the stroke. Works easier than ram prime units and much better than old style primer arms. Small and large punch included.

Strong Angled Frame

This high strength alloy frame offers the rigidity and stability needed for precision reloading, and is guaranteed never to break or fail. The frame’s unique angle gives the reloader greater visibility and easier access to the cartridge in the press.

Easy Grip Handle

Large, ball-style grip reduces fatigue. The long handle increases leverage and reduces effort.

Exploring the Benefits of Investing in Quality Reloading Supplies

Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or just starting out in the world of firearms, one thing remains crucial: the quality of your reloading supplies. Not only can these supplies greatly influence your shooting experience, but they also play a vital role in ensuring your safety.

In this article, we will explore the many benefits of investing in top-notch reloading equipment and provide some pointers on choosing the best reloading supplies.

Why Quality Matters

Quality reloading supplies come with various benefits that transform your shooting experience. It’s an investment that pays dividends in safety, performance, and satisfaction.

Let’s take a closer look at how superior reloading equipment heightens your shooting performance and makes the reloading process a more satisfying experience.

Improved Safety

When dealing with firearms, safety is paramount. This is especially true in handloading or reloading, where the quality of your supplies directly impacts your safety. As you can imagine, high-quality reloading supplies are integral in fostering safer practices and reducing the likelihood of malfunctions or accidents.

Quality reloading equipment, including cases, primers, powder, and bullets, is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and rigorous testing. This ensures that they meet the highest standards of safety and performance. With superior materials and precise manufacturing, high-quality supplies drastically reduce the risk of case ruptures or primer misfires that could result in serious injury.

Further, top-tier reloading supplies promote consistency and, in turn, aid in producing more reliable ammunition. Reliable powder provides predictable pressures, and quality cases resist cracks and splits. These factors all contribute to safer, more reliable rounds.

Better Accuracy

Achieving consistent accuracy is the ultimate goal for any shooter, and the quality of your reloading supplies plays a vital role in hitting that mark. High-quality reloading equipment can significantly enhance shooting accuracy due to their uniformity and precise manufacturing.

Every component of a cartridge, from the case to the bullet, contributes to its overall performance. With high-quality reloading supplies, each piece is manufactured to exact specifications, ensuring consistency across the board. This uniformity translates to stability in flight, which significantly improves accuracy.

Moreover, superior reloading equipment gives you the power to tailor your ammunition to your specific firearm. You can fine-tune the bullet, powder charge, and seating depth to optimize performance. This level of customization, coupled with the reliability of top-tier supplies, allows for unprecedented control over your shooting accuracy.

Increased Lifespan

Quality reloading supplies undergo rigorous testing, ensuring they can withstand repeated use without losing integrity. Whether it’s durable brass cases that resist splitting after multiple reloads or reliable primers that maintain their performance despite changing conditions, high-quality components last longer and perform consistently, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

Additionally, premium reloading equipment enables a more consistent reloading process. They adhere to tighter tolerances, resulting in more uniform cartridges that reduce wear and tear on your firearm, contributing to its longevity. As a result, they maintain their performance attributes over time, unlike cheaper options that may degrade, providing you with reliable, consistent ammunition for longer.

Understand Your Needs

Choosing quality reloading supplies begins with a deep understanding of your individual needs. Identifying these can help streamline your selection process, ensuring you’re investing in the right supplies that align with your firearm type, shooting frequency, and performance expectations.

Different firearms have varying specifications and preferences, and your reloading equipment should match these. Understanding your firearm’s requirements is critical to choosing the right bullet type, case, primer, and powder.

Be sure to also consider your shooting frequency. If you’re a high-volume shooter, the durability and shelf-life of supplies become paramount. In this case, opting for high-quality reloading supplies that withstand repeated use and have longer shelf lives is a wise decision.

Seek Expert Advice

Lastly, navigating the variety of reloading supplies can be overwhelming. That’s where expert advise comes into play. Seeking guidance from seasoned shooters, gun shop owners, and online communities can provide invaluable insights and aid your decision-making process.

Seasoned shooters have a wealth of practical knowledge from years of experience with different brands and products. They can provide personalized advice, sharing insights about what worked for them and what did not, based on similar firearms or shooting styles.

Additionally, business owners are often experienced shooters with deep knowledge of the products they sell. They can provide recommendations based on your specific needs and help you understand the pros and cons of different options to help you continually improve your reloading experience.

MEC 600 JR. MARK 5

Mayville Engineering Company, foremost manufacturer of reloading equipment in America, is widely respected for its continuing dedication to precision engineering. This precision is incorporated into every one of MEC’s “New Generation” reloaders, rendering truly innovative and efficient engineering designs.

The MEC 600 JR. MARK 5 is no exception. The Mark 5 offers the convenience of simple, single-stage operation at an affordable price.

The Mark 5 is remarkable in that it performs each of the basic reloading steps with a mere pull on the handle- depriming, priming, resizing the metal base, measuring the correct amount of powder, firmly seating the wad column, measuring the precise amount of shot and forming a tightly sealed crimp.

Every step of the reloading sequence is performed with a minimum of motion. An exclusive shell holder positions the shell at each station. No transfer die is required, and resizing dies at reconditioning and crimping station give your shell its proper form.

Several features make the MEC 600 JR. MARK 5 today’s best buy:

The Cam-actuated reconditioning station with positive ejection.

The Adjusta-Guide wad feed device with vertical adjustment to permit rapid wad insertion.

The new one piece Spindex crimp starter with swivel action to correctly align with the original shell creases can be changed from 6-8 pt. in seconds

The “Pro-Check” which keeps the charge bar in proper sequence to prevent spilled powder or shot.

Best of all, the crimp die is now manufactured from a revolutionary new material called “DuPont Zytel” which makes maintenance a breeze. The glass-reinforced strength of Dupont Zytel far exceeds any requirements, is absolutely rust free, and actively resists the build-up of residue carried into the die on fired shells. Thus, the die slides effortlessly over the casing, making a perfect crimp every time.

NOTE: This reloader will reload steel shot shells. To convert to steel shot kit #8433 is necessary. Do not use components designed for use with lead shot when loading steel shot shells.

NOTE: A special steel shot charge bar must be used when loading steel shot. Do not use charge bars designed for lead shot when loading steel shot shells.

The 4 Components of a Loaded Round of Ammo

One of the first steps in getting started as a reloader is understanding the four basic components needed to create a loaded round of ammunition: brass case, primer, powder, and bullet. Each of these components plays a crucial role in ensuring that the loaded round performs as it should and doesn’t misfire. Understanding these basic components will help as you continue to learn more about reloading supplies and equipment.

Brass Case

If there is one component on which the other components rely, it’s the brass case. Brass case acts as a container for the powder while holding the primer and bullet at varying ends. There are many different reputable manufacturers of brass casings, so whether it’s for a pistol or rifle, you shouldn’t have a problem finding cases for the caliber you need.

Primer

The primer is a small cap-like device that ignites the powder initiating the combustion required for propelling the bullet. Primers come in an array of sizes so always check with a reloading manual or contact the manufacturer to ensure that the primer fits correctly. Surprisingly, primer performance varies considerably by manufacturer, and therefore, it’s best to stick with a brand you trust.

Powder

The powder, or reloading powder, is a substance that acts as the propellant for the round. Once ignited, the reloading powder turns into a gas, which creates tremendous pressure inside the casing. Eventually, the pressure becomes too great, forcing the bullet from the cartridge at an astonishing speed.

Reloading powders are typically divided into three categories: pistol, rifle, and shotgun powders; however, there is some crossover between them. Nonetheless, these categories offer good starting points for novice reloaders. It’s always best to buy a small amount of powder at first, and if it meets your needs, you can purchase a larger quantity.

Bullet

There is a seemingly endless variety of handgun and rifle bullets on the market, but some of the most popular types include:

Lead Round Nose (LRN)

Semi-Jacketed (SJ)

Full Metal Jacket (FMJ)

Hollow Point (HP)

Hollow Point Boat Tail (HPBT)

Soft Point (SP)

Each of these different bullet types has its own set of designated uses, such as for target shooting, hunting, or self-protection, and each is available in an assortment of weights and calibers. One of the main advantages of reloading your ammo is that you can easily and affordably test different types of bullets.

As with brass cases, there are numerous manufacturers of bullets, and so to avoid getting low-quality rounds, you should only use trusted brands, such as Hornady or ACME. This will help ensure that the bullets are made to strict tolerances with the optimal ballistic coefficient.

The Components of Reloading Success

As a novice reloader, it’s important to understand the individual components used in creating a loaded round of ammo, and how they function together. This will help increase the probability that the round will fire properly and safely. And while this is only a small part of reloading, with the right equipment and reloading supplies, you’ll be an expert in no time.

Titan Reloading is dedicated to helping novice and veteran shooting enthusiasts safely and properly reload their own ammunition every time.

Mayville Engineering Company, foremost manufacturer of reloading equipment in America, is widely respected for its continuing dedication to precision engineering. This precision is incorporated into every one of MEC s New Generation reloaders, rendering truly innovative and efficient engineering designs.

MARK 5 today s best buy:

The Cam-actuated reconditioning station with positive ejection.

The Adjusta-Guide wad feed device with vertical adjustment to permit rapid wad insertion.

The new one piece Spindex crimp starter with swivel action to correctly align with the original shell creases can be changed from 6-8 pt. in seconds

The Pro-Check which keeps the charge bar in proper sequence to prevent spilled powder or shot.

Best of all, the crimp die is now manufactured from a revolutionary new material called DuPont Zytel which makes maintenance a breeze.

Maintaining Your Reloading Supplies: Tips for Longevity

Whether you re a beginner or an experienced gun enthusiast, taking care of your reloading supplies is essential for optimal performance and longevity. In this article, we ll share essential maintenance tips and advanced techniques for extending the lifespan of your reloading equipment to ensure you get the most out of your reloading experience.

Maintaining your reloading supplies is an indispensable part of the equation when it comes to safeguarding your passion for shooting or hunting. This investment not only enhances your marksmanship skills but also extends the longevity of your gear.

To keep your shooting sessions seamless and your gear lasting longer, we ve assembled a helpful guide on maintaining your reloading equipment. From understanding different types of supplies to learning practical cleaning and storage techniques, here are some of the best ways to help you see significant improvements in your shooting experience.

1. Proper Storage

To ensure the longevity of your reloading equipment and supplies, it s essential to store them in a dry environment, as moisture can cause damage and corrosion to your brass and bullets, compromising their performance. Invest in airtight containers or ammo cans with moisture-absorbing packets to keep your components free from humidity.

Additionally, a well-organized system for storing your reloading supplies will make it easier to find what you need and prevent any mix-ups that could lead to dangerous mistakes. Consider using clear plastic bins or labeled drawers to separate different types of brass, bullets, and other components, as this will save you time during reloading sessions while ensuring accuracy and safety.

Furthermore, rust can be detrimental to the functionality of your reloading equipment, so taking steps to prevent its formation is crucial. After each use, thoroughly clean all metallic parts using an appropriate solvent or oil-based cleaner designed for firearms maintenance. Apply a light coat of protective oil before storing the equipment in a cool, dry place away from any potential sources of moisture.

2. Proper Cleaning

Remember that proper cleaning and maintenance of your reloading supplies improves performance and extends their lifespan. Don t overlook these essential steps in caring for your equipment.

Cleaning Brass Casings

After every use, make sure to remove dirt, debris, and residue from the casings. Use a brass tumbler or cleaning solution to achieve a polished finish.

Maintaining Dies and Presses

Keep your dies and presses clean by wiping them down with a cloth after each reloading session. Inspect for any signs of wear or damage that may affect their performance.

Cleaning Powder Measures

Regularly clean your powder measures using compressed air or a soft brush to ensure accurate powder measurements.

Lubrication

Choosing the proper lubricant is crucial for maintaining your reloading supplies. Different types of lubricants are designed for specific components, such as case bullet lube. Be sure to select a lubricant compatible with your materials and provides adequate protection against heat and friction.

Proper application techniques are essential to ensure adequate lubrication. Use a clean cloth or brush to apply a thin layer of lubricant evenly on the surfaces that require it. Avoid over-lubrication, as excess lubricant can attract dirt and debris, leading to malfunctions in your reloading process.

3. Inspection and Replacement

Regularly inspecting your reloading supplies is crucial for identifying signs of wear and tear. Look for visible damage, such as cracks, dents, or rust on press components. Pay attention to any unusual noises or reduced performance during reloading, as these can also indicate worn parts.

Regularly inspecting cases for signs of wear or damage is another crucial in maintaining the longevity of your reloading equipment. By keeping a close eye on your cases, you can ensure their integrity and avoid potential accidents. Additionally, checking primer seating depth accuracy is essential for consistent and reliable ammunition. Lastly, replacing worn-out dies will guarantee optimal performance and prevent any issues during the reloading process.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

The Titan Crew is wishing all of our fellow Americans an Independence Day full of family and reflection. Take a moment to consider the spirit of our Founding Documents and what is happening to our freedoms as we redefine the meanings. The strength of our country comes from the self reliant individuals who are a part of a larger cause, not in the notion of a collective society were those who do not pursue happiness are still entitled to it. Our Constitution guarantees our opportunities .not our outcomes. This principle is being called Systemic Racism by some today but it seems more like just plain Common Sense. We must teach this spirit to our children lest they only hear the redefined versions of responsibility so popular in educational circles today.

Celebrate and Reflect on the fact that we are the last bastion of freedom on earth . For this reason we must not focus on our differences, but rather, join together and preserve the USA as our founders designed it. Our freedoms are not free and will be lost if good people do nothing to uphold it. Teach our youth about the country we grew up in. This is no longer a part of schools curriculum, having been replaced by diversity. Our kids know very little about the freedoms we take for granted. We must ALL teach them.

*Note: Lee Precision has discontinued this version of the Pro 1000 but we still have a limited supply ON SALE for $179.99.

The new design Pro 1000 has a positive index locating pin that eliminates indexing problems. It has a new low profile steel base that has been rotated for optimal ergonomics while reloading. Best of all it now has a through ram primer disposal system.

Add a bullet and pull the lever; all other operations are automatic on this progressive press. One loaded cartridge with each pull of the lever.

Every operation is automatic. Primers, like the powder, are fed only if a case is present. No wasted primers or spilled powder. Alternate loading sequence lets you load only one case at a time. Makes learning easy for the first time user and great for fine adjustments or experimenting.

You can start reloading good ammunition minutes after the press is bolted down.

Change calibers in just three minutes. Extra Turrets and Shell Plate Carriers sold separately.

Notes:

Extra Turrets and Shell Plate Carriers are available for reloaders buying a Pro 1000 kit who plan to load more than the caliber listed in the description of press. (sold separately)

The Lee Reloading Stand shown in the picture is NOT INCLUDED.

The Pro Auto-Disk powder measure (included as part of the kit) will only work with Lee Powder Through Expanding Dies.

How to Properly Reload a Cartridge

The fundamental steps for reloading a cartridge can be reduced to a
few basic operations. Additional operations and reloading supplies will
be required in some situations or omitted in others.
1. Inspect and clean cases. Clean dirt and grime from each case before
inspecting for deformities and splits. A sonic cleaner is good for
removing carbon buildup and oxidization. To clean and polish brass, use a
tumbler.
2. Deprime the brass. Use a dedicated decapping die to punch the old
primer out of the casing bottom, or (more common) the die that resizes
your brass will also knock the old primer out.
3. Lubricate cases to prevent them from getting stuck in the sizing die.
4. Resize the brass. A resizing die is used to bring the brass back into the correct exterior dimensions.
5. Trim the case to specified length if needed. Fired brass can lengthen
beyond safe limits. Use calipers or a case gauge to check the length.
Trim as required.
6. Clean the primer pocket as required.
7. Prime with correct primer size and manufacturer according to the reloading manual.
8. Weigh and load the correct powder charge with a powder funnel.
Double-check your reloading manual for data on powder type and proper
load for your bullet weight and cartridge.
9. Select proper die and adjust for proper seating depth. See your manual for proper settings.
10. Review your setup.
11. Run preliminary test rounds and examine each step for correct results.
12. Complete a batch with periodic checks for accuracy.

Getting Started with Reloading kits are great for
beginners getting into this fun and rewarding hobby. The cornerstone of a
reloader s workbench is the press. It enables you to almost
effortlessly complete functions with a pull of the handle. Different
kits include different tools. The main press styles are single stage,
turret, and progressive. Your shooting preferences and the amount of
ammo you want to load help determine the most suitable press and other
reloading supplies for you. Titan Reloading is dedicated to helping
novice and veteran shooting enthusiasts safely and properly reload their
own ammunition every time.

To Purchase or Reload, That is the Question

The most serious gun enthusiast generally takes pride and ensures their firearm is kept in optimal operating condition. Cleaning, oiling, lubricating moving parts, and maintaining the external surfaces with varnish or bluing are reverently accomplished. The ritual maintenance ensures the optimal condition and accuracy of the firearm.

However, attention to the ammunition is a separate issue. Most gun owners are content to purchase pre-made and prepackaged bullets by the box. However, the avid marksman utilizing reloading supplies to make their shot is becoming more popular.

As one becomes more experienced in the technique of reloading, nuances in the reloading equipment used are identified. Ultimately, the reloader will want to explore options that improve the process and quality of the resulting rounds.

The three most common concerns related to reloading instead of store-bought ammunition are time, money, and personal preference. However:

The savings associated with reloading are significant, especially for the frequent hobbyist using quantities of shells. Recent estimates suggest that reloading supplies to create stock ammo can provide 33% to 50% savings over prepackaged boxes of bullets.

Over time, this can represent a significantly decreased financial burden. The savings can be funneled into another firearm, upgrading reloading supplies, or paying for shooting range time.

Conversely, many find joy and satisfaction in having personal input into every aspect of the experience. An analogy would be an avid sports car owner who performs all the car’s engine maintenance personally, as opposed to one that takes the prized vehicle to an automobile repair shop for routine work.

Brand New, Remanufactured, and Reloading: What’s the Difference?

Only the shell casing varies when comparing the difference between factory-made and making personally handmade bullets with reloading supplies. Every other component of the shot is the same.

Modern reloading supplies, equipment and application create a perfectly smooth and identical reproduction of a new case. They are indistinguishable in appearance and function when compared to store bought ammunition.

In addition, the reloader can modify the casing to meet a specific need or preference. For example, the slug can be narrower, shorter, or longer. It can also be modified to accept various changes in the other components.

A click adjustable stop allows trim length adjustment in .001 of an inch increments. This allows the user to shorten cases to a uniform shorter length than standard, reducing trimming frequency. With this new system you can also trim calibers like .17 Rem and .204 Ruger to exact case lengths.

INSIGHT OF THE MONTH:

	Cast Bullet Leading

A clue to what is causing the leading is where the leading first begins to appear. If it appears near the chamber, chances are that bullet diameter or hardness are the cause. A diameter too small and/or too hard an alloy will allow high pressure gas to leak past the bullet, which erodes the bullet and leaves leading near the chamber.

If the leading first appears on the leading edge of the rifling (if you imagine the bullet being pushed through the barrel, you will note that one edge of the rifling does most of the work of imparting a spin to the bullet. This is the edge you see when you look through the barrel from the breech end) the bullet might be too soft, and/or the velocity too high. A good rule of thumb for maximum velocities when using Liquid Alox is 1400 feet per second for plain base bullets and 2200 feet per second when using gas check bullets. Bore conditions will require you increase or decrease this velocity slightly to prevent leading.

If the leading appears in the second half of the barrel, the bullet is running out of lube. You should see a star shaped pattern of lube accumulate on the muzzle. This is an indication that there is a little excess lube.

Best results in applying Liquid Alox are when the alox is heated before applying, or thinned with paint thinner. This makes it flow more easily, and results in a more even coat. One technique is to boil water and pour it into a coffee mug, and then drop the bottle of Liquid Alox into the mug for about five minutes.

Place your freshly cast bullets into something about the size of a Cool Whip bowl and drop a few drops of liquid Alox on the bullets. Mix the bullets around until they are all coated. Lay the freshly coated bullets on some wax paper to dry. Liquid Alox will usually dry enough overnight to reload the next day, depending upon the humidity. Tacky bullets can be dusted with powdered graphite.

If you subscribe to the “more is better” line of thought, your coated bullets may never dry. Don’t go for a “golden” color but rather just a light varnish. If you discover that your bullets are sticky the next day, you can get by with using a little less the next time. Keep reducing until the “stickiness” is gone by the next day.

If you are sizing your cast bullets, it is necessary to lube them first. Because the sizer will remove some of the surface of a larger diameter bullet, you may need to re-lubricate the bullets after they have been sized.

Many of Lee’s bullets are of the “TL” or Tumble Lube design. These bullets have many shallow grooves that are perfect for allowing Liquid Alox to adhere to a great amount of surface. It has been reported that the accuracy of these bullets is high.

Most gun owners are content to purchase premade and prepackaged bullets by the box.

The birds have been a lot louder around here in the morning lately but I can’t tell if they’re complaining about winter like me or just happy that spring is this close. Either way, I like it. All the boys have reported for spring training now and the bats are crackin again, all is good!
